The Statistics
The Fraser Coast saw an increase in the number of domestic visitors in the year ending December 2008.
A record number of travellers visiting friends or relatives was the main driver of the increase in visitation. More specifically it was visitors from within Queensland who increased their travel to the Fraser Coast. Brisbane and Sunshine Coast residents, along with local residents all increased their travel to visit friends or relatives in the region. Interstate visitors also increased over the year.
The region also saw an increase in visitors from New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Interstate visitors average length of stay continues to recover after dropping quickly in 2004. Interstate drive visitors typically have a longer length of stay. In 2008 interstate and business visitors increased their stay in the region. Intrastate holiday visitors length of stay remained stable at 3.8 nights. In addition to increasing their visitation, intrastate visitors also increased their length of stay (up 0.5 nights) to 3.2 nights.
International visitors average length of stay was stable at 4.4 nights. International holiday visitors increased their average length of stay by 0.4 nights to 3.7 nights.
The Concept
BiggTV is an exciting nd brand new TV Channel which will be soon available in all Hervey Bay hotels, apartments and blocks of units
BiggTV will screen a series of television commercials which will be structured into a 10 – 20 minute (depending on the number of advertisers) modular program featuring Hervey Bay tours, restaurants, attractions, shopping, and fishing charters. The 10 – 20 mins program will be played non-stop 24/7, 365 days a year.
Each advertiser will receive a 30 sec television commercial which will be played on BiggTV continuously for a period of six months with an extension of another six months optional upon expiration. This television commercial can also be viewed on a dedicated Hervey Bay website and for an extra cost screened on television.
With approximately 600 rooms and up to another 300 rooms coming on stream within the next few weeks, with an average of 50% occupancy throughout the year, there will be a guaranteed audience of over 300,000 people who will watch these commercials. And that’s not including the website presence.
